Over the past couple of decades Ben has partnered with the White House Recording Company out of Three Hills, Alberta, to produce many western and country records. The White House is an impressive, world-class recording facility who has jump-started the careers and recorded the albums of several solo and band acts on Nashville's Reunion Records label, most notably the pop-gospel band Jake. White House's outstanding collection of mics and gear (including fully reconditioned vintage ribbon mics and tube equipment), along with the knowledge of how to use it to its fullest, gives the studio the tools Ben needs to produce a quality recording. Specializing in acoustic and country styles, Ben has produced or played sessions on close to 50 albums in a 25 year period, all with White House. Artists he has produced include Shirley Field, Butch Falk, Jim Reader, Fred Dobirstein and Mike Burns, in addition to the 4 solo projects of his own and those of the bands he's been a part of. Ben also has access to many of Alberta's finest session musicians and has been a vital part of what's becoming known as the Alberta sound. Butch Falk's album Wind In The Pines, produced by Ben, was nominated Album Of The Year in 1998 by the Academy of Western Artists.

With the current economy and the dollar exchange in favour of the US, recording in Canada is very attractive to American artists; more bang for the buck you might say.

What do a Perducer do?
As producer Ben is responsible for the overall direction and sound of the recording, and often also arranges the tunes. He arranges studio time, chooses and hires the session players, manages the budget and ensures overall quality control. Ben strives to capture the essence of the artist and get the highest possible quality within the set budget.

What are the costs?
Depends on your budget. For smaller budgets we offer a one-week package that currently runs in the neighborhood of $8000, including studio, engineer and producer fees, accommodation, session players, mixing and mastering, printing costs, and duplication of 500 CDs.

Call or email for firm quotes. Of course, we can easily handle larger projects...
